What is “opportunity”?
The online dictionary definition:
noun, plural opportunities.
- an appropriate or favorable time or occasion.
- a situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal.
- a good position, chance, or prospect, as for
advancement or success.
Most people – you – me – when considering opportunity are usually looking for something that will improve our circumstances:
- maybe it’s a chance to move some place more to our liking;
- or a chance for a new job;
- even a chance to be known or to get rich.
- of more likely a chance for career development
We want that “Opportunity of a Lifetime”. One that falls unexpectedly in our laps. It’s the one that makes us say “WOW!” The one that makes us feel like our career is not just developing, but finally taking off. Yes, that one, where we know our career’s on its way to soaring.
But I like to think that opportunities are God’s way of giving direction to my life. God has a plan for my life and yes, for yours.
If you look at the opportunities that come into your life you will begin to see a pattern or grouping of them that are leading you in a direction.
Sometimes we rejoice in that direction. That –
“I finally can see what path I should take.”
But there are those times when we look at where we are going and groan.
“Is this all my life is going to mean?”
That’s probably the rut that brought you to this site in the first place.
Well – God has a plan for your life and the sooner you give in and cooperate with that plan, the sooner you will finally reach the peace and sense of accomplishment that lets you know you finally have a place in this life that is particularly your own.
God takes care of the whole world. But he does it one person at a time. He’s the master coordinator of this world where we live. Each person has a role to play to help make the entire world a better place. And you’re part of it. It’s a rather awesome role for you, isn’t it?
Because of the need for YOU, is why I want you to explore and look at your opportunities and see what your contribution to this plan is.
Today’s Call to Action
Before we start, I have a tool here to help you get started. Print out this worksheet and fill it in. I suggest you make at least two copies of it. Fill it in before you go further on this subject and then do it again (and maybe several times again) as we go along in learning about ‘Your Opportunities’. It will give you a baseline to help you see how you have changed because you have found the Opportunity that is knocking on your door.
