All Aboard – Destination Procrastination
The title All Aboard – Destination Procrastination. This title came to me out of the blue after finishing the last post. I knew right away it was going to be the title for this next post. After all, procrastination was the main thing that kept everyone sitting on the side and not going forward with creating their ideal opportunity. One of these days, you say, I will decide what I want to do with my life. But that day never seemed to arrive.
Nana Jumps on the Procrastination Train
A funny thing happened though. While the title was there, it seemed Nana had jumped at the opportunity to board that train. She rode that train day after day. It was such a nice ride. Smooth and comfortable. The scenery was pleasant. The food was familiar and fixed just the way she liked it. Fellow passengers all seemed familiar and glad to be with her. She was lulled into a sea of tranquility by the pleasant rhythm of the wheels on the tracks. Would she ever write a post using that title? Nana too had become trapped when they announced: All Aboard – Destination Procrastination.
Procrastination is the ride that never ends until you pull the stop cord and get off that train.
Wait a minute. What am I doing here? “All Aboard – Destination Procrastination” was for others to get on board. Why did I jump onto the train? This train never reaches its destination. It just keeps going. Day in and day out. You wait for it to stop but it just goes on and on and on and on. The scenery stays the same. The passengers seldom change. It’s a comfortable journey yet it’s boring and mind-numbing. All of a sudden, Nana wakes up and is ready to scream. She doesn’t want to be on the train to nowhere. How do you get off this train? I WANT OFF! HELP!
The Stop Cord is Pulled
Nana looks around and finds the stop cord. She pulls it and hangs on for dear life. She is determined to get off this train – right now. The brakes screech as the long, long train comes to a halt. Suddenly, she can’t wait to get off this train. Starting down the stairs she thankfully sees that there is a station up ahead within walking distance. It doesn’t look too far away. Can she make it? She hurries along, leaving her baggage on board that dastardly train. There is nothing in her bags that can’t be replaced. As she hastens toward the station that train once again is back on its way, going right past her and the station without stopping again. Why didn’t it stop? Why didn’t anyone else get off? It was such a wonderful opportunity. Yet no one else got off with her.
New Station Reached
Almost immediately the station is reached. Nana is out of breath but oh so happy to be off that train. Where am I? Then she looks up and suddenly realizes that she has arrived at the destination she was looking for. At last, she has a arrived at ACTION STATION. Yeah! Finally, she has a chance to create the life she wants. One thing she knows, she doesn’t want to ever respond to that call of “All Aboard – Destination Procrastination”. It was a nice ride for a short time but man did it ever get boring quickly. She never again wanted to be trapped on a ride that was taking her nowhere.
Nana Says a Prayer
Thankful to be off that train, and now at Action Station, Nana shouts out a prayer of thanks. Then, she adds in a prayer for all those still riding on that train.
It just goes on and on, day after day, never stopping or changing direction. All those on board can’t leave until they individually pull that stop cord and get off. “Please Lord, Help them get off that train to nowhere.”
Where are You?
Where are you? Did you get on that train too? Do you realize that it’s never going to stop until you pull the cord and get off? No, you don’t know where you will be when you get off. But – you won’t be on that train. Action Station is right there waiting to receive you. Once you reach that station, you will be able to decide where you want to go. You’ll be in control of your destination.
